Kenny Burgos is the inaugural CEO of the New York Apartment Association (NYAA), whose diverse membership owns and manages nearly 1 million affordable housing units in the NYC metropolitan area, making him the head of the largest trade organization representing private multifamily building owners in the country. With a deep-rooted passion for serving his community and a rich history of legislative leadership, his tenure, which began in August 2024, marks a new chapter in a distinguished career dedicated to ensuring affordable and equitable housing solutions across New York. As an Assembly Member for New York’s 85th District in the Bronx, Kenny was at the forefront of housing policy reform. During his time in the Assembly, he spearheaded critical legislation aimed at revamping rent-stabilization laws to boost housing supply, and successfully championed bills to extend housing tax credits to families in need. His efforts have consistently focused on keeping money in the pockets of New Yorkers and roofs over their heads, reflecting his commitment to both immediate relief and long-term sustainability in housing. Prior to the Assembly, Kenny worked in the New York City Council, where he was instrumental in shaping budgets that bolstered affordable housing initiatives and provided financial assistance to renters facing hardship. His career path has equipped him with invaluable insights into the complexities of urban housing, and the multifaceted approach required to effectively tackle such challenges. Raised in the Bronx alongside three sisters, Kenny’s early life was marked by firsthand experiences of the community’s acute needs and potential for growth. His family are small business owners, so he understands both the challenges of operating a business and the benefits to the larger community and economy. He graduated from the Bronx High School of Science and later earned a degree in Economics from the University at Albany, SUNY, grounding his legislative acumen with solid academic credentials. Kenny resides in the Bronx with his wife, son, and two dogs, and continues to be an active and dedicated member of his community. As the CEO of NYAA, he is poised to leverage his extensive experience and unwavering dedication to transform New York’s housing landscape, ensuring that every policy enacted under his leadership contributes to a fairer, more livable city for all.

Mark Levine has been at the forefront of advancing more affordable, equitable, and healthy communities for nearly 25 years. He began his career as a bilingual math and science teacher in the South Bronx and went on to found Neighborhood Trust Federal Credit Union, which has since provided more than $100 million in loans to families and small businesses across Northern Manhattan and the South Bronx. Mark served for eight years on the New York City Council, including as Chair of the Committee on Parks, Chair of the Jewish Caucus, and Chair of the Committee on Health. In the latter role, he brought a science-based, data-driven approach to helping lead New York City through the worst public health crisis in a century. During his tenure, he authored and passed landmark tenant protections, including the nation’s first Right to Counsel law, guaranteeing legal representation to tenants facing eviction who cannot afford an attorney. In 2022, Mark was elected Manhattan Borough President, where he focused on confronting the city’s affordability crisis. He identified opportunities to deliver tens of thousands of new housing units, advanced policies to expand affordable housing, and strengthened protections to help tenants remain in their homes. As Borough President, he also launched initiatives to plant one million additional trees, deploy millions of dollars in low-interest loans for small businesses, improve the city’s mental health system, enhance street safety and mobility, and strengthen New York City’s preparedness for climate change. Mark was elected New York City Comptroller in November 2025 and assumed office on January 1, 2026. Outside of work, Mark spends time with his family and enjoys studying languages. He speaks Spanish and Hebrew fluently and is currently studying Greek and French. He holds a B.A. in physics from Haverford College and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School.
